About the Library

The Growing Tree

The Growing Tree
The Growing Tree.
Be a part of the "Growing Tree" at the Potterville Benton Township District Library. The leaves on the tree represent the names of people and groups who have donated to our Library. You can donate in memory of someone or simply because you love your library!

Engraved Leaf For a minimum donation of $50 we will add your name to one of the leaves on our "Growing Tree". The proceeds from these leaves will go toward helping the Library continue to grow in a variety of ways such as purchasing special books, furniture or items for the Library or purchasing new equipment to replace some that is outdated. We also will use some of the funds to promote the Library to bring in special speakers and programs and by helping to sponsor programs in the community that encourage reading.

If you are interested in becoming a part of our "Growing Tree" please see one of the Librarians or call 645-2989.

Friends Group

Circulation Desk
Our new circulation desk.
The Friends of the Potterville Benton Township District Library were formed in 1963 and have been active ever since providing both financial and volunteer help to the Library.

Members of the Friends provide support for the long range goals of the Library through service and financial contributions.

Some of the objectives of the Friends are to establish a closer relationship between the library and the community. Encourage community participation in library activities and raise funds for projects, activities, or acquisitions in excess of those provided for by the general library budget.

The Friends hold at least two book sales a year – one in the summer (during Gizzard Fest) and one at Christmas time (Holiday Open House). They also have used books for sale all year long as well as book bags printed with the library logo. The Friends recently had a beautiful new oak circulation desk built and installed. This is the newest item in a long list of special chairs, lamps, and other furnishings they have provided over the years.
